-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~

This walkthrough is over the Nintendo game The Legend of Zelda. The game is
about a hero, Link. The Triforce, a magical item, has been broken into two
pieces. Gannon, the villain, has one piece. Princess Zelda broke the other
part into eight pieces, and now Link must find the eight pieces.
After you beat your first game in The Legend of Zelda, you will be able to
play through the game again in the Second Quest. The only thing different in
the Second Quest is that everything is in different locations.
As Legend of Zelda has a large map, I will use a standard map grid to
describe locations throughout this walkthrough. The map is 16 units
horizontally, and eight units vertically. The vertical units will be described
as A-H, where A represents the units at the top and H represents the bottom.
For horizontal units, I will use a number between 1 and 16. 1 represents the
far left, and 16 shows the far right of the map. Your start location on the map
is H8.
This walkthrough covers all the aspects of The Legend of Zelda. The
walkthrough will cover how to get through the game step by step. It will also
list items in the game.

This section gives you a step by step process for getting from the very
beginning of The Legend of Zelda to the end credits. This section is designed
so that you can get brief information or an in-depth process. Each section
begins with a list of objectives you have to complete. Below the list of
objectives are detailed descriptions on each objective you must complete to get
through The Legend of Zelda in both quests.
Apart from the first sword, I do not tell you how to get items in the main
walkthrough section. Check the 'Items' section for that.

                           -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
                                 A: First Quest
                           -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

        Objectives:
    1. Get the first sword.
    2. Get the first triforce piece.
    3. Get the second triforce piece.
    4. Get the third triforce piece.
    5. Get the fourth triforce piece.
    6. Get the fifth triforce piece.
    7. Get the sixth triforce piece.
    8. Get the seventh triforce piece.
    9. Get the eighth triforce piece.
    10. Defeat Ganon.

Objective #1: Get the first sword.
Go into the cave on the screen (H8) you start in. A person in there will
tell you that it is dangerous, and you should take the sword he has lying in
front of him. Leave the cave.

Objective #2: Get the first triforce piece.
Go to the first dungeon now, which on the grid is at D8. (To get to D8 from
H8, your start position, go.right, up, up, up, up, left.) Now you will be in
the first dungeon.
Check the first room. If there is a locked door in it, leave the dungeon
then go back in and it should be unlocked. Now, from the first room, go right
and get the key in that room. Go back left then up. In this room, go left and
then up through the locked door. Go right and get the map, then go up and get a
key. Go back to the room where you got the map, and go right. Defeat all the
enemies in this room to get the boomerang. Go to the right and get the key in
that room, then go up and encounter the boss.
If you have a bomb, use it to eliminate this boss in a flash. Otherwise,
use the hit and run method with sword pokes. After you beat this boss, pick up
the heart container and go into the room to the right to get the first piece of
the triforce.

Objective #3: Get the second triforce piece.
The second dungeon is, on the grid, located at D13. (Or, to get to the
second dungeon from the entrance of the first dungeon, go right, down, down,
right, right, right, right, right, up, left, up.) Go into the second dungeon.
In the first room of dungeon 2, go right. Grab the key, then head up, up,
up, and up. Defeat all the enemies in this room to get a key. (If you go right
herem you can defeat the enemies for an upgrade to your boomerang.) Go up, then
up again. In the room you arrive in, defeat all the enemies. Go up another
screen and beat all the enemies. Make sure you grab the bombs the enemies will
leave. Go up one room to fight the boss of the second dungeon.
To beat this boss, lay a bomb in front of it. It will eat the bomb and get
hurt. Repeat once more and the boss will be defeated. Grab the heart container
and go left to get the triforce.

Objective #4: Get the third triforce piece.
The third dungeon is located at H5. (To get to it from the entrance to the
second dungeon, go down, right, down, left, left, left, left, left, down, left,
left, left, left, left, down, right.) Go into the third dungeon.
From the entrance of this dungeon, go left, grab the key, go up, defeat the
enemies for a key, then go up again. Now go left and left. Defeat the enemies
to open the door below. Defeat the enemies in the next room and push the block
on the far left down to open your passage downstairs, where you'll get the raft.
Now go back up to the room. Go up twice and grab the key. Go down, then right
twice. Bomb the wall to the right and go through. Defeat the enemies and then
go right. Defeat the enemies in this room and go up. Now you will fight the
boss of the third dungeon.
The easiest way to beat this boss is lay bombs for it to run into. When the
bomb explodes on the boss, it will most likely take out several of the four
heads. Defeat any remaining heads with a sword poke or another bomb. Head up
after grabbing the heart container and grab the triforce piece.

Objective #5: Get the fourth triforce piece.
The fourth dungeon is located at E6. To get to it, you must get on the raft
and ride across the water from F6. (To get to F6 from the exit of the third
dungeon, go left, up, right, right, up, up.) Enter the fourth dungeon.
From the first room of the dungeon, go left and defeat the enemies for a key.
Go right and then up. Go up into the next room and grab the key. Go left then
up and get the key. Now go right and defeat the enemies. Open the foor to the
room to the right. In the room to the right, defeat the enemies and head
downstairs to get the ladder. Now go up to ground level and go left twice. Go
up across the river and into the net room. Go up into the next room and defeat
the mini boss (which is the boss from the third level). Go up and then right
three times. Go down and defeat the enemies. Go right. Now you will fight the
boss of dungeon four.
To defeat this boss, walk up to it and whack it's heads. After one head
dies, it will start running around the room. Dodge it and manage to take out
the other head as well. Grab the heart container and go up into the next room
for the heart container piece.

Objective #6: Get the fifth triforce piece.
The fifth dungeon is located above a maze. To get through the maze, first
you must visit the person in the waterfall. The waterfall is at B11. (To get
to it from the fourth dungeon, go down across the water, right, right, right,
right, right, up the right side, up, up, right, up, left, left.) Walk into the
waterfall and pay the person 20 rupees. Go back outside and go right. In the
maze you're in, go up four times. You'll arrive at the fifth dungeon.
In the fifth dungeon, go up. Defeat all the enemies, grab the key, and go
up. In this room, defeat the three mini-bosses (the bosses from dungeon 2). Go
left and defeat all the enemies for a key. Go down and blow up the wall to the
left and go through. Go down the pit and come out the other side. Go left and
go below ground to get the Whistle. Now go back right, through the underground
passage, right, up, thrn right. Go right, then up. Defeat the enemies for akye.
Go up, then up and grab the key. Go left and defeat the enemies for a key. Go
left, then left again. In this room is the boss to the fifth dungeon.
Begin the battle by playing the whistle. The boss will shrink. Poke him
with your sword a couple times and he'll die. Grab the heart container, then go
up a screen to grab the triforce piece.

Objective #7: Get the sixth triforce piece.
Now you must go to dungeon six. The sixth dungeon is located at C3. (To
get to screen H1 from the exit to the fifth dungeon, go down, left, left, left,
left, cross the river with a ladder and go one screen left, left, down, left,
down, left, then up.) Enter the sixth dungeon.
In dungeon six, go right and defeat the enemies for a key. Go left twice.
Go up twice and defeat the enemies. Go up twice and defeat the enemies in this
screen. Go up and defeat the enemies then go up. Defeat the mini-boss (boss
from dungeon 4) and then go right. Go down, grab the key, then go down and
defeat the enemies. Go right and down to the underground level. Come up the
other side and into the room. Go down and defeat the enemies for a key. Go
left and then up to fight the boss.
To beat this boss, shoot an arrow into its mouth when it opens. With a few
arrows, it should be dead. Grab the heart container and then go up to grab the
sixth triforce piece.

Objective #8: Get the seventh triforce piece.
Now it's time to go to the seventh dungeon. On the grid, the seventh
dungeon is located at E3. (To get to the seventh dungeon from the exit of the
sixth dungeon, go down, left, down, left, down, down, right, right, up, up.) To
find the entrance to the seventh dungeon, blow the whistle on this screen.
(Before you enter the seventh dungeon, you might want to pick up some Bait and
an extra Key if you don't have one at a store.)
From the first room of the seventh dungeon, go up then right three screens.
Defeat the mini-boss (the boss from dungeon 5) in this room and then go right.
Defeat all the enemies in this room for a key. Now go left four screens. Blow
up the wall at the top of the screen and go through the opening. Go up another
screen. Defeat all the enemies in this room and go up. Defeat the mini-boss
(the boss from dungeon 5), and then blow up the wall to the right and go through.
Defeat the enemies for a key. Go left two screens and then go up one screen.
Give the creature some Bait and he will let you by. Go up to the next screen.
Now go right to the next screen. Blow up the wall to the right. Go through.
(You can go below this room to grab the Red Candle.) Blow up the wall on the
right of this room and go through. Now go right and then defeat the mini-boss
(the boss from dungeon 5). Go up one screen and bomb the right side of the room.
Go down the pit and come out the other side. Blow up the wall on the right of
this room and go through to fight the boss.
This boss is the same as the boss in dungeon 1, except it has a little more
hit points. You shouldn't have much trouble with this boss. Once the boss is
gone, grab the heart container and go right one room to pick up the seventh
piece of the triforce.

Objective #9: Get the eighth triforce piece.
It's time to get the final piece of the triforce. The eighth dungeon is
located on screen G14. (To get to dungeon 8 from dungeon 7, go down, down,
right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, down, right,
right, right, up, left.) On this screen is a lone tree blocking the path
between the two sides of this screen. Burn it down to enter duneon 8.
From the first room of dungeon 8, go right and pick up the key. Go left
then up to fight the mini-boss (the boss from dungeon 3). Bomb the wall on the
upper end of the room and go through. In this room, defeat all the enemies and
grab the key. Go up a room two rooms and then bomb through the wall on the
northern side of the room. In the next room, you'll fight a mini-boss (the boss
from dungeon 6). Go up and defeat all the enemies. Go right and you'll get the
Skeleton Key. Now you no longer need normal keys. Go to the left and down two
screens. Defeat all the enemies in this room and go to the right. Go down the
tunnel and out the other end. In the room you arrive in, blow up the wall on
the upper side of the screen and go through to fight the boss.
This boss is the same as the boss in dungeon 4, except it has 4 heads
instead of 2. The boss should be no problem. Once you trash it, grab the heart
container and head north to complete the triforce.

        Objective #10: Defeat Ganon.
Now it is time to encounter Ganon. The ninth dungeon is located at A6 on
the grid. (To get to the dungeon, blow your whistle to dungeon 6. Then go down,
right, up the right path, right, up, right, right, up, left, left.) Blow up the
left of the two rocks to enter the final dungeon of the game.
Enter the ninth dungeon. Go up. In this room, you will be stopped if you
don't have a full triforce. Go left, then bomb the upper wall and go through.
Go down the stairs and through the tunnel. In the room you come out of, go
right twice. (At this point, go down, bomb right, defeat the enemy by attacking
the creatures around it first, go up, then bomb up and go underground for the
Red Ring.) Go up and listen to the old man. Bomb the left wall and head
through. Go down through the tunnel in this room. In the room you turn up in,
go left twice. Defeat the enemy in this room by defeating the spinning
creatures around it then defeating the main body. Go down the tunnel and out
the end. In the room you arrive in, bomb the upper wall and go through. In the
next room, defeat all the enemies and push a block to reveal the hidden passage
in which you will find the Silver Arrows. Go back up to ground level and go
down and back through the tunnel. Go up, up, up, and then bomb left. Defeat
all the enemies in this room and push the block to reveal a secret passage. To
reach this passage, step on the top row of the screen and then rush behing the
block that rushes forward down the stairs. Go out the other end of the stairs
and bomb the left wall. In the next room, defeat the enemies and go down the
stairs and out the other end. Defeat the enemy in the room you come out in
(defeating this type of enemy is described earlier in this objective) and go up.
Link will hold up his half of the triforce, and the room will brighten and
reveal Ganon.
To defeat Ganon, go in the lower right corner of the room and poke around in
all four directions while dodging fireballs. Eventually you'll hit Ganon.
After several hits, Ganon will freeze and turn red. Shoot him with a Silver
Arrow and he'll be history. Grab his half of the triforce and go up into the
next room, where you'll find Princess Zelda and complete the first quest of The
Legend of Zelda.

                                 B: Second Quest
                           -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

        Objectives:

    8. Get the seventh triforce piece.
    9. Get the eighth triforce piece.
    10. Defeat Ganon.

Objective #1: Get the wood sword.
Go into the cave on the screen you start in. A person in there will tell
you that it is dangerous, and you should take the sword he has lying in front of
him. Leave the cave.

Objective #2: Get the first triforce piece.
Go to the first dungeon now, which on the grid is at D8. (To get to D8 from
H8, your start position, go.right, up, up, up, up, left.) Now you will be in
the first dungeon.
In this dungeon, go up one room and defeat the enemy's for a key. (Go right
one screen at the beginning and defeat the enemies for the boomerang.) Return
back to the first room. Bomb the wall to the left. In the room to the left of
the first one, push a block to reveal a tunnel. Go through. In the room you
come out in, defeat the enemies to get a key. Go to the right and bomb the
upper wall and go through. Now you'll fight the boss of the first dungeon.
This boss is the same as that of the first dungeon in the first quest. Blow
up the boss with a bomb or use careful sword pokes. Once the boss is gone, grab
the heart container and proceed to the next room for the piece of the triforce.

Objective #3: Get the second triforce piece.
The second dungeon is located at D5. (To get to the second dungeon from the
entrance to the first dungeon, go right, down, down, dnown, down, left, left,
left, left, up, up, up.) Underneath the statue in the middle of the top row is
the entrance to the second dungeon.
From the first room of this dungeon, go up one room and defeat the enemies
for a key. Go up, up, up, up, and bomb the right wall and go through. Grab the
key then go left then up. In the room you arrive in you will fight a mini-boss
(the boss from first quest's third dungeon). Grab the key then go right, then
down. Walk through the wall on the bottom of the screen. Beneath this room
lies the Whistle. Go back to ground level and go left, down, then right.
Defeat the enemies for a key. Proceed to the next room, then go down and defeat
the enemies for a key. Go down and defeat the enemies for a key. Go down and
through the tunnel. In the room you arrive in, head up and you'll run into the
boss.
This is the same boss from the fourth dungeon in the first quest. Whack the
heads of the creature and then grab the heart container once the boss is dead.
Continue on to grab the second piece of the triforce.

Objective #4: Get the third triforce piece.
Now for the third dungeon. The third dungeon is located at D13 on the grid.
(To get to the third dungeon from the entrance to the second dungeon, go down,
down, down, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, up, right through
the upper path, right, up, left, up.) Play the whistle and go into the third
dungeon.
From the beginning of the third dungeon, go up. (At this point, go up four
times and give the creature bait and go up again for the metal boomerang.) Go
right in this room and you'll face the boss of this dungeon in the middle of the
dungeon.
The boss is three of the bosses from dungeon 2 in the first quest. Feed
them all two bombs each to win. Grab the heart container then go down into the
next room.
Defeat all the enemies then push a block to open a tunnel up. In the room
the tunnel puts you in, defeat all the enemies, grab the key, and then go up.
Grab the triforce and you're done.

Objective #5: Get the fourth triforce piece.
The fourth dungeon is located at B12 on the map grid. (Or, to get to the
fourth dungeon from the entrance to the second dungeon, go down, right, up, up,
up the left path, then left.) Move the stone on the far right to reveal the
fourth dungeon.
From the entrance of the fourth dungeon, go left and defeat the enemies for
a key. Go right then up. Fight the mini-boss (the boss from dungeon 5 of the
first quest). Go right, then up. If you're touched by a red bubble creature,
it'll take your sword so be sure to get it back from a blue creature of the same
type. Go right, then to the next room for the Magic Book. Go right, right, and
up. Defeat the monsters in this room for a key. Go up, right, and up. Push
the block to get into the next room. Bomb the upper wall and head through. Go
up then right. In the next room you'll be charged 50 rupees or a heart
container to get by. Pay the 50 rupees. Go right and down the hidden tunnel.
Go up, and then you'll fight the boss.
This is the same boss as in the fifth dungeon of the first quest. Blow your
Whistle and poke the monster to rid the dungeon of it. Grab the heart container
and go up, but don't grab the triforce just yet. Go around the triforce and
head through the upper wall. Go up one room then defeat the mini-boss (three
bosses from dungeon 2 in the first quest). Go up then defeat the monsters and
reveal the staircase. Beneath the room is the Raft. Once you have the Raft, go
back to the triforce room and grab the piece of the triforce.

Objective #6: Get the fifth triforce piece.
The fifth dungeon of the second quest is located at E6 on the grid. To get
to it though, you need to use the Raft at the dock at F6 on the map. (To get to
screen F6 from the exit of the fourth dungeon, go down, left, down, left, down,
left, down, left, left, left, and left.) Once you cross the water to E6, enter
the fifth dungeon.
In this dungeon, go up, right, down, then go down the tunnel. In the room
you arrive in go left. Walk by the mini-boss (the boss from dungeon 6 in the
first quest) and go down. Go below this room to grab the Bow. Now go back to
the room with the mini-boss and kill it with your arrows. Grab the key then go
up, right, up, up, right, up, right, up, then through the tunnel into the next
room of the dungeon. Go left and then you'll get to fight the boss.
This boss is the same as the one in the fourth dungeon in the first quest.
Just take out the heads, go grab the heart container, and then grab the triforce
in the next room.

Objective #7: Get the sixth triforce piece.
The sixth dungeon is located at D1 on the grid. D1 is located beyond the
Lost Forest, so to get through the Lost Forest you must take the path up, left,
down, left. (To get to D1 from the exit of the fifth dungeon go down across the
water, down, left, left, left, left, through Lost Forest (up, left, down, left),
up, up, up.) Play the Whistle in this area and the sixth dungeon will be
revealed.
From the beginning of this dungeon go up, up, left, left, then through the
secret tunnel. Grab the ladder. Go right, right, down, right, up. Bomb
through the upper wall and go through. Go left, up, up, right, through the
passage, then right. Now fight the mini-boss (the boss from the second dungeon
in the first quest). Go on to the next room and go through the passageway.

dungeon, go left, left across the river, left, left, left, left, left, up, left,
left.) Blow up the wall in this area to open up the entrace to the final
dungeon of the game.

while dodging fireballs. Eventually you'll hit Ganon. After several hits,
Ganon will freeze and turn red. Shoot him with a Silver Arrow and he'll be
history. Grab his half of the triforce and go up into the next room, where
you'll find Princess Zelda and complete the second quest in The Legend of Zelda.
