=----------------------------------------------------=
=I. Introduction:- Enter the Town Shooting Gallery!:)=
=----------------------------------------------------=

I don't normally do specialist FAQs, especially for big name games like Zelda,
but this mini-game is so difficult that I'm sure many people need such an
in-depth guide, in particular, those who wish to recover every piece of heart
in Majora's Mask. Although some other pieces are (fairly) difficult to
retrieve, the heart which requires you to get a PERFECT (50 points) score on
the Town Shooting Gallery is by far the hardest in the game, or in any Zelda
game for that matter. For example, completing the game with every mask and
eighteen hearts took me eight days of play, getting all of the other remaining
secrets took me another day, but finishing the Town Shooting Gallery took me a
further three days of solid play. It's that hard.

=-----------------------------------------------------------------------------=

=------------=
=II. Controls=
=------------=

Nothing too difficult here:-

Analogue Stick; Move Link's view and aim of bow. (Remember that, when using the
Hero's Bow, unlike the Hookshot or the Up-C first-person view, the aim will not
"self-centre").

B; Fire arrow, with a delay of a fraction of a second between pressing the
button and the arrow being released. The aim of the arrow can be changed
slightly during the delay, but if the button is held down during the delay,
after the delay has passed, the arrow can be fired by releasing the button,
with no delay. This "No Delay" technique is vital to some screen where time is
of the essence.

* Note that the game CANNOT be paused while the Shooting Gallery is in play.
There is also no way to exit the Shooting Gallery once the game has begun; you
have to wait for the time to run out.

=-----------------------------------------------------------------------------=

=---------------------=
=III. 3rd rate story:)=
=---------------------=

Not much here; Link is trying to win rupees, a quiver upgrade, and ultimately,
a piece of heart, in the hope that these items will improve his chances of
recovering Majora's Mask and returning to his own world (Hyrule).

=-----------------------------------------------------------------------------=

=-------------------------------------=
=IV. Location of Town Shooting Gallery=
=-------------------------------------=

Before I give you a list of the items you will need to win, I'll describe how
to find the Town Shooting Gallery:-

After starting your game up, head into East Clock Town. (Enter on of the gates
to the left of the start). In the south of this area, find a shop with a big
pink octopus on top of it. Enter the shop between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

=-----------------------------------------------------------------------------=

=-----------------------------------=
=V. Items required for participation=
=-----------------------------------=

Here is a list of the items needed, and recommended for winning those prizes,
along with the locations they are found in. If you really need help finding
these items, consult another FAQ at GameFAQs or somewhere, or e-mail me and
I'll add it to this FAQ.

Items Required:-

* 20 Rupees (Anywhere)

* Hero's Bow (Woodfall Temple)

* Must be Hylian Link, not wearing any transformation masks (Clock Tower)

* Must not be wearing a mask which covers Link's face, Bunny Hood etc., are
OK. (-)

Items Recommended:-

* Giant's Wallet (Oceanside Spider House)

* 500 Rupees (Anywhere)

* Clock Town Map (Tingle in North Clock Town/Ikana Canyon)

* Bunny Hood (Romani Ranch)

* Ocarina of Time (Clock Tower)

* Inverted Song of Time (Trading Post)

* A healthy bank account, 5000+ Rupees, if possible (West Clock Town)

* First quiver upgrade (Road to Southern Swamp)

* A lot of patience:) (???)

=-----------------------------------------------------------------------------=

=-----------------------=
=VI. Points mean prizes!=
=-----------------------=

Here is a list of all the available prizes in the game, and the number of
points, (out of fifty), needed to claim them. Remember that some prizes may
vary. When the "high score" is mentioned, it is the highest score that you have
achieved and saved before, (you need to play the Song of Time or talk to an owl
statue to save your high score). The default high score, if you have never
played the shooting gallery or set a high score is thirty-six, so you need to
score thirty-seven or more to upgrade your quiver.

* Score below, or equal to, the existing high score and you will earn nothing.

* The first time you score higher than the existing high score, you will
receive a quiver upgrade. This will allow you to carry either; forty arrows,
(if this is your first quiver upgrade), or fifty arrows, (if you already have
the first upgrade, from the Shooting Gallery on the road to the Southern
Swamp).

* If you have already claimed the quiver upgrade, when you set a new high
score, you will be given a Purple Rupee, worth fifty Rupees.

* If you get a PERFECT score, (fifty points), you will be awarded a piece of
heart. Well Done!^-^

=-----------------------------------------------------------------------------=

=------------------------------=
=VII. Preparing for the gallery=
=------------------------------=

Preparation is important for a win!

* Start a new cycle of days by playing the Song of Time.

* Play the Inverted Song of Time, if you can, to slow time down. This won't
slow the Octaroks down, but it will give you more time to play, before the
gallery closes at 10 p.m.

* Put on the Bunny Hood to speed up your running around, if you have it.

* Go to the bank and withdraw as many Rupees as you can afford, (five-hundred,
ideally).

* If you need Rupees, pick the chest with a Silver Rupee in it, (worth
one-hundred), above the Shooting Gallery. (You need to be wearing the Bunny
Hood to get it). !You can also get this Rupee as Zora Link/Mikau; see FAQs for
more details!

* Enter the Shooting Gallery with at least twenty Rupees, talk to the
shop-keeper, and ask to play the game.

=VIII. Shooting Gallery Guide=
=----------------------------=

Here is an explanation of a diagram which you will see many times during this
guide:-

  Back of Gallery
 _____ _____ _____
| | | |
| | | |
|_____|_____|_____|
| | | |
| | | |
|_____|_____|_____|
| | | |
| | | |
|_____|_____|_____|

    Link is here

On each "screen" of Octaroks, there are nine spaces. Each space may be empty,
filled by a Red Octarok, (which is worth one point for shooting), or a Blue
Octarok, (which make you lose one second of time if you shoot them). The
symbols for these are:-

 _____
| |
| | Empty
|_____|

 _____
| |
| O | Red Octarok
|_____|

 _____
| |
| X | Blue Octarok
|_____|

Hitting a Red Octarok will make a circle appear, while hitting a Blue
Octarok will cause a cross to appear.

     A B C
   _____ _____ _____
  | | | |
1 | | | |
  |_____|_____|_____|
  | | | |
2 | | | |
  |_____|_____|_____|
  | | | |
3 | | | |
  |_____|_____|_____|

This diagram shows the name of each space, for example, the top-right space is
called C1.

     A B C
   _____ _____ _____
  | | | |
1 | | | |
  |_____|_____|_____|
  | | | |
2 | | O | |
  |_____|_____|_____|
  | | | |
3 | X | | |
  |_____|_____|_____|

On this diagram, the Red Octarok is in B2 and the Blue Octarok is in A3, while
A1, B1, C1, A2, C2, B3 and C3 are empty, got it? Good!

* Remember that you only have one minute and fifteen seconds to win, (about
five seconds per screen), and you will lose one second every time you hit a
Blue Octarok.

Guide to each screen:-

make the mistake of firing straight forward, or you'll hit the first Blue
Octarok.

  | | | |
3 | O | | O |
